he current generation of lithium-ion batteries is much more robust, powerful and durable than it was a few years ago. Capacities of around 500 Wh guarantee extreme ranges and the construction with integrated protective sleeves ensures maximum resistance. Extreme temperatures, moisture and shocks are no longer a problem with modern batteries. Nevertheless, the need to buy an additional battery may arise. On the one hand, of course, as a replacement for a defective or old battery. But also as a backup for particularly long tours or daily commuting. Bosch offers its batteries in different versions. In addition to the choice between a capacity of 400 or 500 Wh, the reliable battery is also available as a Power Tube solution since this season. The discreet design in anthracite matches every bike. The low weight of approx. 2.5 kilograms and the smart attachment to the frame or the rear rack are high-tech in its purest form. The voltage of 36 volts makes the batteries compatible with most Bosch e-bikes. A lock secures the battery against theft. The battery can be charged inside the frame, but the battery unit can also be removed for this purpose in a few easy steps. With the Bosch Power Tube, a special mechanism enables easy removal by moving the battery unit a few centimetres out of the frame when it is unlocked. This model also allows a bottle cage to be attached to the frame. The T.E.C Pack from Fokus is a battery with a maximum capacity of 378 Wh. If this is combined with the already installed battery, the result is an incredible range that makes even the most demanding tours possible. The low weight, the uncomplicated handling and the possibility to attach a bottle cage to the housing make the Focus T.E.C Pack an ingenious extension for the popular Jam² and Bold² models. All batteries comply with the safety guidelines laid down by the legislator. At this point, we refer to the instructions for storage and handling. The batteries should only be connected to chargers designed for this purpose.
Bosch Nyon the smart display
With the Nyon display, Bosch offers a modern extension to the functionality of its e-bikes. This ingenious all-in-one solution allows the connection of a smartphone via Bluetooth. The integrated GPS module, combined with the corresponding map material, becomes a fully-fledged navigation system. The generous memory capacity of 8 GB makes it possible to fit a whole lot of maps on the device. The Bluetooth function also allows the use of a suitable chest strap to monitor the performance data. With the micro-USB connection, the device can be charged, updates and maps can be transferred and MP3 players or smartphones can be paired. The stylish 4.3 inch colour display with automatic backlighting shows all important information clearly and legibly. The Nyon is splash-proof according to IPx7 standard and so robust that it is happy to accompany you on trails. Other professional functions, such as the integrated compass, the barometric air pressure sensor or the intuitive joystick for operation, turn the display into a fully functional board computer. All in the usual Bosch quality, of course!
Even faster to 100% with the Bosch Fast Charger
Charging a 500 Wh battery from completely empty to 100% takes about 4.5 hours with a standard charger. For bikers who ride particularly demanding tours, commuters, or the professional use of an e-bike, this always means a longer break. With the new Bosch Fast Charger, charging times are approximately halved thanks to double the ampere power. This makes it the fastest charger currently available for Bosch batteries.
